Hi, I'm Bonita
I'm a yoga teacher, forever student and believer in the power of movement, mindfulness and human connection.
My relationship with yoga began as a personal journey towards better mental wellbeing, but over time it became so much more. As a mixed-race woman, I didn't always see myself reflected in traditional yoga spaces, inspiring me to create a practice where people from all backgrounds can feel welcome, supported and free to show up as they are.
My parents had practiced yoga long before me, had encouraged me to give it a try over the years, knowing how much I loved movement and hoping it might support my mental wellbeing. It wasn't until I joined my dad for a studio class in 2017 that something clicked. For the first time, yoga really resonated with me.
Today, I share yoga and mindfulness across studios, community spaces and online, making the practice adaptable, realistic and relevant to everyday life. My teaching is rooted in the belief that yoga extends far beyond the mat, it's a way to reconnect with ourselves, with one another and with the world around us.
After building a consistent studio and home practice, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training and began sharing what I'd learnt with friends and family. I went on to teach primarily in gym spaces, discovering my own voice as a teacher and the joy of making yoga accessible to more people.
Travelling through Mexico became a turning point. I took my business online, began growing a community on Instagram and expanded my offerings to include online courses and Zoom classes. It showed me that connection through yoga doesn't have to be limited by location.
Today, I teach across studios, community spaces and workplaces, including sessions for older adults, chair yoga, people recovering from substances or accessing mental health rehabilitation support, and NHS settings.
I'm continuing my studies through a 300-hour teacher training, deepening my understanding of trauma-sensitive approaches, pre- and postnatal yoga, accessible teaching and yogic philosophy.
My journey as a student is far from over and that's exactly how I like it.
